Community

Our YMCA has teamed up with the Health Department to renovate one of our local intercity parks. The Jonesville Project kicked off in early January and should be completed by the middle of March. This project included refurbishment of the baseball field, restoring the picnic area, rebuilding the basketball courts and totally renovating the park play features. Many community volunteer hours have been logged so far and when it is complete it will add a beautiful touch to a resurging area!

Another outreach project our YMCA took part in was Project Church Work Out. This project used some grant funding to supply cardiovascular equipment to some of our outlying minority churches. We also provided instruction, instructors and maintenance. Our goal is to help get those who cannot make it to us the opportunity to work out and hopefully in the future join our Y family.

Another venture our Y has partnered with our community in is Project Sanderson. In this initiative we are relocating a building given to us by the school board to Sanderson. When the relocation is complete we will use the building as a teen center as well as a base for local sports programming. This project will be funded in part by a federal teen abstinence grant.

For Community Questions, contact Jim Bouldin.
