Katie Ride for Life
The Katie Ride for Life is a premier cycling / walking event with choices of routes up to 100 miles starting and finishing on Amelia Island in Northeast Florida on April 17. The purpose of the ride is to eliminate a need for Donor Waiting Lists. There are over 105,000 Americans currently on the national organ transplant waiting list. Over 3,500 are listed at transplant centers right here in Florida. Any one of us could start a new day only to find that we have been diagnosed with an illness in which our only lifeline is an organ transplant. Every 13 minutes a new name is added to the waiting list and every 90 minutes someone dies for lack of a donor organ.
The Katie Ride for Life enables novices to serious riders to raise funds to provide organ donor education, increase donor commitment and increase awareness of the importance of organ and tissue donation. The Katie Ride for Life encourages Floridians to make a positive decision about organ donation. We ride and walk for the well-being of others, for our own health…and for YOU! Register for or donate to the Brooks Family YMCA team today!
