Kids Together Against Cancer Art Program

Brooks Family YMCA, Flagler Center Family YMCA, Williams Family YMCA
Social Services

What’s one of the hardest things to do when you’re diagnosed with cancer? Talking with your family. We’re so proud to be hosting a Kids Together Against Cancer art program, free to the community. KTAC workshops allow families to start the conversation and support children whose parents, grandparents or caregivers are fighting cancer. The workshop meets every Monday between April 21 and May 19.

Books can transform the ordinary into extraordinary. Whether it’s a new world to explore, old fears to overcome or familiar characters to know and love, reading helps children expand their minds and brighten their futures. When kids read, the possibilities are ENDLESS!

Between April 21 - May 5, members and guests of all ages will have the opportunity to drop off new or gently used books for children in kindergarten through fifth grade at local Ys. All donated storybooks will benefit the children learning and growing in YMCA READS! programs across the First Coast.

Scholastic Book Fair | duPont

Williams Family YMCA
Volunteerism & Giving

Books can transform the ordinary into extraordinary. Whether it’s a new world to explore, old fears to overcome or familiar characters to know and love, reading helps children expand their minds and brighten their futures. When kids read, the possibilities are ENDLESS!

We’re partnering with Scholastic Books Fairs at a few of our branches this year during The Storybook Collection. Each book that you buy for yourself or your family helps us help even more children become better readers since proceeds from the book fairs will benefit YMCA READS! programs across the First Coast.

YMCA READS! seeks to close the gap in students’ reading performance and the State of Florida’s reading performance expectations. The program is limited to first and second graders specifically referred by the participating schools, and the primary focus of the programming is on improving students’ reading grade level equivalency.
