In the News: Winston Family YMCA swim team grows
Two high schools and YMCA’s USA Swimming team share the pool for practices, competition.
The Winston Family YMCA pool gets a good workout every day.
At times, so many swimmers are churning waves while doing laps that the pool resembles the Atlantic Ocean.
But that’s a good sign, head swim coach Craig Teeters said.
Because it means the YMCA’s Winston Flyers team of 5- to 17-year-olds is growing and becoming more competitive.
The year-round team is competing at USA Swimming-sanctioned meets, which feature Olympics development. USA Swimming is the national governing body of competitive swimming.
