Jan 7, 2010: Tiger Academy Students to Help KaBOOM! Design New School Playground

YMCA of Florida’s First Coast partners with Dr Pepper Snapple Group, non-profit KaBOOM! to design community playground on Thursday, January 7

WHAT: The YMCA of Florida’s First Coast, the Dr Pepper Snapple Group and organizers from KaBOOM!, will host a Design Day for children at Tiger Academy on Thursday, Jan. 7. Children from Tiger Academy will put crayon to paper and draw their dream playgrounds, which will ultimately become a reality. Elements from the children’s drawings will be incorporated into the final design for the new community playground to be built on Feb. 24 at the Academy. Design Day will also be the first meeting of the playground planning committee that will work for the next seven weeks to plan and prepare for the construction of the new playground.

The playground will be the first of 10 built by the Dr Pepper Snapple Group and KaBOOM! in 2010 in a partnership creating playgrounds that will eventually serve more than 100,000 children. The build will also be one of more than 150 KaBOOM! will lead across the country in 2010 in an effort to provide a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.

WHERE: Tiger Academy, 6079 Bagley Road, Jacksonville, FL 32209

WHEN: Thursday, January 7, 2010 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.
