Get Active with YMCA Sports and Recreation Programs

Sports are at the heart of all YMCAs. Under the leadership of caring and dedicated staff and volunteers, participants learn the true meaning of sportsmanship, the skills necessary for specific activities, and the values critical to playing an important role on a team. Take a look at some of our most popular sports and recreation programs below, but keep in mind that offerings vary by branch.

Youth Flag Football

Youth-Flag-Football

Youth Flag Football is a great way to learn the fundamentals of the sport of football without full contact. Boys and girls will learn basic football skills and how to work as a team in a positive, encouraging environment. Involvement is fundamental to the game and every child attending practice will play half of every game.

Youth Cheerleading

Youth Cheerleading provides boys and girls with the opportunity to learn basic cheerleading skills and how to work as a team while having fun and building self-confidence. Cheerleaders will cheer on our Youth Flag Football teams.

Youth Volleyball

Our developmental volleyball program helps children learn and develop the skills and tactics that a volleyball team needs to compete. From beginner to advanced, this program supports all skill levels.

Youth T-ball

Youth T-Ball allows boys and girls the opportunity to learn t-ball skills, play on a team and have fun! Traditional game rules are altered slightly to meet age appropriate learning. Involvement is fundamental to the game and every child attending practice will play half of every game.

Youth Gymnastics

This class is designed so that children, regardless of level or age, reach their highest potential while having fun! Your child will not only increase his or her physical fitness, but will also build self esteem. Beginners will work on basic tumbling skills and flexibility, while the intermediate level works on more advanced tumbling skills and mini-apparatus training.

Taekwondo

Taekwondo has become one of the most popular martial arts for sport and personal development. Our Taekwondo class is designed to help participants ages 5 and up build self esteem while getting stronger, increasing flexibility, reducing stress, learning self-defense and having fun.

Youth Karate

Children will have the opportunity to develop basic karate skills and improve their endurance and physical strength while building character and learning self-confidence.

Youth Soccer

YMCA Youth Soccer gives boys and girls, ages 4 to 17, the opportunity to learn soccer skills, play on a team and have fun! Involvement is fundamental to the game and every child attending practice will play half of every game.

Youth Basketball

YMCA youth basketball allows boys and girls the opportunity to learn basketball skills, play on a team and have fun! Involvement is fundamental to the game and every child attending practice will play at least half of every game. The YMCA youth sports philosophy is unique - we emphasize good sportsmanship, teamwork, values and fellowship with others in addition to teaching fundamental skills.
