Welcome to Take Stock in Children
Take Stock in Children is a
statewide education initiative serving students in all 67
Florida counties. Take Stock in Children is emerging as one
of the country’s most successful public-private initiatives
to overcoming child poverty, academic failure and youth
crime. Predicated on the belief that children living in
poverty face such daunting challenges that only a
comprehensive, long term, widely-supported effort will
produce widespread improvement and corresponding changes in
public policy, Take Stock in Children makes an unusual
commitment to children, lasting from a child’s initial
selection in grade school to his or her first
post-collegiate experiences in the workforce.

Each Take Stock Scholar Receives…
· A 4-year Florida Prepaid tuition scholarship;
· A volunteer mentor who meets the child at his or her
school for one hour a week to provide support and
motivation;
· Continuous monitoring and intervention services;
· The active engagement of parents in the child’s academic
and personal development; and,
· Career and educational counseling
